The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Might Solve This

As any major honors show nears, one notices a demand for introducing fresh award types to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and delight the passions of fans dedicated to specific genres.

My colleague has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is a passionate advocate's mission. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case backing this proposal stands as crucial and important of all. The demand is this: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and inevitably spark debates resulting in unclear classifications. This explains why cinema institutions avoid this approach. However, it represents an unavoidable compromise for the industry of video games, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify as a single art form.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, while allowing diverse titles to compete fairly, specific award classifications remain vital.

Existing Game Classification System

The major gaming awards currently feature classifications covering Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these six categories effectively encompass a lot of ground, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to logic-based experiences. No suitable classification appears for their placement. Consider three of outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: the architectural riddles from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition of another game, engaging interpersonal challenges of a third title. What category would fit them between these six categories? Nowhere, that’s where.

The Representation Problem

Numerous examples exist excellent brain-teasers published annually without proper recognition at major award shows, if they accidentally match for categories like Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated in any category that year
  • A different innovative game received no nominations during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game got ignored in 2021
  • Only a few brain-teasers scraped into independent or mobile categories

Value of Brain-Teasers

Commonly they're small games, yet the craft behind logic titles carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as most engaged experiences globally continuing this trend for over a decade.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games claiming status as highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running as greatest title ever. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, while interacting with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Puzzle games wouldn’t have such difficulty. You could fill multiple candidates with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent many worthy titles.

Restating the point, these are games without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators function at the challenging frontier interactive creation, creating some of the purest expressions of gaming itself. Just like film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait decades.
